Hey y'all
For those who were following, my S2R 1000 that was not running correctly,
the obvious has proved to be the solution. I put the stray spark plug
wire back into the coil and walla the bike runs perfectly. No more hard
starting, refusing to idle and steady throttle bucking. I had forgotten
how great a motor the 1000 DS is. I filled it up with 90 octane non
ethanol and went for a 60 mile ride. I considered going longer but I
promised to help my wife out in the kitchen so thought better of it.
What a wonderful bike after all. I had considered parting it out because
of all the bling I knew I would never get much for the bike whole. Glas
that is not going to happen. I may have to find some stock foot pegs as
the Sato Racing rearsets are not working for me now that my joints have
aged another ten years since their installation.

Hooray for simple solutions!
I'd love to drop a 1000DS into my carbie 900SS, but I haven't found time to
swap on the flatslides I found for it three years ago yet, no point
planning an even more involved project...

Great to hear, and good for you to get back to help your wife. Have fun,
stay safe (I mean while helping in the kitchen - most accidents happen in
the home).

Good to hear Jim, happy for you. I enjoyed my S2R1000 when I had it.
I have no regrets getting rid of it and the ST3.
My M900 still creates a smile every time I ride it and the Diavel is competent enough in the twisty stuff, all day comfortable, and with the shad bags plenty of room for clothes, tools, stop n go tire repair.

Hey Gene
Thanks to your recommendation I ended up putting Shad 36 liter hard bags on
my 08 Hypermotard. The custom mount to make it work cost more than the
bags did but they worked just great and I have used them several times.

That is some expensive mounts or you got a great deal on the bags. Glad it worked out for you though.
The mounts on the Diavel are brilliant 2 bolts on/off in under 10 mins.
Also have found a way for XM Radio on the Diavel.

Yes I got some display models for around $300. I bought the cheapest
mounts I could find just over $125. Took a fabricator three tries to make
them fit the air cooled Hypermotard. The results were great but combined
with the purchase and fabrication is was close to $600!!! Cheaper than a
new bike with bags though.

Fantastic! I'm having the same conversation with myself re: my rearsets. I put some Woodcraft rearsets on about 10 years ago and am now considering putting the stock ones back on. I'm so vain though and love the way the aftermarket ones look. First world problems....hahahahaha

You describe my delima exactly. I love the way the Sato Racing rearsets
look and hate to part with them. I already have an offer to trade them for
stock and $ but I am hesitating. Hard to give them up, they just look
right. Yes first world problems.
