Hello, I am searching for some record of a distant grandfather. His name was Alexander, Miller, I believe born in Enniskillen, Fermanough, Ireland on 22 Sept 1833. So far haven't found any birth records of a Miller/Millar born in Northern Ireland on the CoTyronelist. He moved to Canada in 1847, and from what I can read was part of Church of England. Church of England in Ireland is the Church of Ireland. If the family was Church of Ireland and your ancestor was born in Enniskillen in the 1830s then the bad news is that parish's early records were destroyed in the 1922 fire in Dublin. Some fragments remain. Details on the PRONI guide to church records. The fragments are not on-line so far as I am aware, and you would need to go to PRONI in Belfast to look them up.

Ellie,
Many Church of Ireland early records were sent to the Public Record Office in Dublin for safe keeping in the 1880s. Mostly they were from churches without good local storage facilities. (So not every church sent their records there). During the Irish Civil War in 1922, the PRO was blown up and most of the records lost, including those for the parish of Enniskillen.

If the family was Church of Ireland and your ancestor was born in Enniskillen in the 1830s then the bad news is that parish's early records were destroyed in the 1922 fire in Dublin. Some fragments remain. Details on the PRONI guide to church records. The fragments are not on-line so far as I am aware, and you would need to go to PRONI in Belfast to look them up.

Ellie, Many Church of Ireland early records were sent to the Public Record Office in Dublin for safe keeping in the 1880s. Mostly they were from churches without good local storage facilities. (So not every church sent their records there). During the Irish Civil War in 1922, the PRO was blown up and most of the records lost, including those for the parish of Enniskillen. global search for copies of the original documents that were held
elsewhere. There is surprising success in discovering these records. I
think the target date for the project is next year. I am waiting with
