I'm back from the V2V, the Cross Country Ride the Victory Motorcycle Club does on the Victory Highway, from Staten Island, NY to San Francisco, CA.

No Ducati Content but thought some might be interested.

I am Chairman again this year and also Leg Captain for the first 3 legs. This is our 20th Annual and I had wanted to do the whole ride but due to Government shutdown I lost revenue and vacation so I just could not do it, even the days I took to participate put me back to negative on vacation.

Anyway here is a link to the forum we are using to record the ride, some good pictures and comments.

https://thevmc.com/forum/index.php?/topic/129301-follow-the-20th-annual-v2v-in-this-thread/

And you can follow the ride on this SPOT track, switch is to satellite view to see the terrain, also it has multiple pages in reverse order so the start of the ride is now on page 7, which was Leg 0 where I rode up to the start.

Here is the basic info about the ride

In 1921, a group of American citizens formed a group, known as the Victory Highway Association, to create a transcontinental highway to commemorate American Forces members who were in killed in action during World War 1. The highway, which existed between 1921 and 1938, went through numerous configurations and iterations using existing and specially constructed roads, bridges and ferries. This highway would be known as the Victory Highway and it crossed the country between New York City and San Francisco, California.

In the spirit and celebration of all veterans, and those who gave us their ultimate sacrifice, the Victory Motorcycle Club is pleased to announce the 20th Annual Victory Highway Relay “V2V” for 2019. For 20 years we have been doing this ride, it’s a great ride! Thanks to all the past V2V Chairmen, Leg Captains, and participants that made it possible to declare this year as our 20th.This year’s two week, thirteen leg journey will begin in Staten Island, NY heading to the great eastern valleys, rolling through the agricultural plains of the Midwest, the high western desert, rising to the Rocky Mountains, and finishing at San Francisco, CA!

This year the ride begins on 6/22/2019 and ends 7/4/2019 in San Francisco.

The ride consists of 13 legs, each leg is 1 day and led by a Leg Captain who has the baton, a jar of sand from the Atlantic Ocean, and the Spot which allows the entire membership to track the progress of the ride as it goes across the country.

Thanks Steve, the ride still continues and pictures are still being posted once they hit Denver on Sunday the ride really gets nice I'm told and I look forward to having a look on the spot track and switching to Satellite view. I think it is amazing that the road existed back in the 20's.

There are some other roads that also amaze me, there is the Dixie Highway, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Highway , there is a 13 mile section of the brick road still in existence and can be found in Espanola, Fla, it is marked as the N. Dixie Highway/old brick road and curious attraction that I incorporate into a ride during bike week, following CR 13 out of Bunnell Florida, we don't ride the road it is a little rough, but we visit then back track and pickup CR13 on the north end which becomes a canopy road following east side of St. Johns River.

There is another road I want to ride https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/old-spanish-trail-zero-milestone  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Spanish_Trail_(auto_trail)

And also the Great River Road https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_River_Road

I've also been doing some great end to end rides, we recently took the sportbikes on an end to end to visit the oldest bar in Virginia down in Abingdon http://abingdontavern.com/ find Rt.42 in Woodstock, VA and follow it south, it will take you all the way to Saltville, Va and it is a fantastic road both my M900 and the Diavel love that road. There are sections that seem to disappear but I know how to connect.

Some day I'll have enough time and money to ride more.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get rid of stuff that's just been taking up space in my garage for years.

Roll-a-click CRG levers, like brand new. Two for $100 and I'll throw in a functional but rashed one for free

Two mirrors for 91-98 900SS. Good shape. $90 for both.

Stock rear shock off my '96 900SS/CR. This is the non-adjustable one. I don't know....is it worth any money? Hmmph....free to whoever wants it.

Stock shock off a 900SS/SP. This is the nice adjustable one. Make me any offer and it's yours.

Stock plastic rear hugger for 91-98 900SS. Free to whoever wants it.

Two clear visors for an Arai Signet. Don't know if they'll work on the new ones. Free to whoever wants them.

Two clear visors to a Shoei RF1100.  Don't know if they'll work on the 1200. Free to whoever wants them.

Helmet bags. One blue Shoei, two blue Arais, one grey Arai, one black AGV. Are these worth anything? No idea...make me an offer and they're yours.

New pair of Alpinestars SPX gloves, medium, black. For some reason, they hurt my hands. They're very nice but just hurt my hands.  $95 new. Uh....they're good as new....$60. Is that fair?

Old pair of black, medium, full gauntlet, Texport gloves. Carbon on the knuckles and joints. A bit faded but really sturdy. $200 new, years ago....$20 now.

Old pair of Spartan winter gloves. Black. Medium. I'll throw these in for free to whoever buys any gloves.

Pics available if you want.

I really only need something for the CRG levers, mirrors, and A-Star gloves. Anything else is free or whatever you want to offer.

I also have 900SS/CR body work, stock 900SS seat, seat panels and other misc parts. Those are in a big box in an overhead rack. The bodywork is cracked in various ways but definitely repairable. If you're interested in any of that let me know and I'll drag it out.

Ok, I just hope some of this stuff is useful to somebody.

Cheers, Mario

Hi Mario,
What body panels do you have? I may be interested in them as spares.
Thanks,

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get rid of stuff that's just been taking up space in my
garage for years.

Roll-a-click CRG levers, like brand new. Two for $100 and I'll throw in a
functional but rashed one for free

Two mirrors for 91-98 900SS. Good shape. $90 for both.

Stock rear shock off my '96 900SS/CR. This is the non-adjustable one. I
don't know....is it worth any money? Hmmph....free to whoever wants it.

Stock shock off a 900SS/SP. This is the nice adjustable one. Make me any
offer and it's yours.

Stock plastic rear hugger for 91-98 900SS. Free to whoever wants it.

Two clear visors for an Arai Signet. Don't know if they'll work on the new
ones. Free to whoever wants them.

Two clear visors to a Shoei RF1100.  Don't know if they'll work on the
1200. Free to whoever wants them.

Helmet bags. One blue Shoei, two blue Arais, one grey Arai, one black AGV.
Are these worth anything? No idea...make me an offer and they're yours.

New pair of Alpinestars SPX gloves, medium, black. For some reason, they
hurt my hands. They're very nice but just hurt my hands.  $95 new.
Uh....they're good as new....$60. Is that fair?

Old pair of black, medium, full gauntlet, Texport gloves. Carbon on the
knuckles and joints. A bit faded but really sturdy. $200 new, years
ago....$20 now.

Old pair of Spartan winter gloves. Black. Medium. I'll throw these in for
free to whoever buys any gloves.

Pics available if you want.

I really only need something for the CRG levers, mirrors, and A-Star
gloves. Anything else is free or whatever you want to offer.

I also have 900SS/CR body work, stock 900SS seat, seat panels and other
misc parts. Those are in a big box in an overhead rack. The bodywork is
cracked in various ways but definitely repairable. If you're interested in
any of that let me know and I'll drag it out.

Ok, I just hope some of this stuff is useful to somebody.

Cheers, Mario

It's been years since I put them in storage. I'll have to drag them out.  Somebody else expressed an interest so I guess I'll have to get to it.

Mario
