Thanks Chris. The passenger list of the Cannon was located in a FHL film of a collection of church records held in the Armagh County Museum (no reference to it in the catalogue) and extracted it as potentially useful to researchers. I recall attending a lecture at PRONI some years ago and it was stated that there was no systematic recording of emigration from Ireland until c1900 and any records would be held at the port of disembarkation whether in North America, Australia or New Zealand; I guess that applies for returning citizens. A Google search indicates that there are some pre1900 shipping records on a couple of commercial genealogical websites (pay to view). Hope this is useful.
