My 1997 748 started up this morning just as she always does perfectly. I let her idle up to temp to do the oil filter etc..
I also bled the brakes, cleaned out the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel, topped off the coolant, adjusted the chain bled the clutch, cleaned up some rusting fittings and made some other none engine adjustments.
Now the bike will not start. She cranks but will not pop off. I changed the plugs and checked the fuel connections and they seem good.
I was thinking of checking the air gap at the Hall effect / timing sensor but I am other wise stumped as to why the bike now will not fire...
It sounds as though the ignition is just not firing as hear the fuel pump prime and those relays seem to be working...
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Many Thanks !
Eric
Did you pull a spark plug and check if it’s actually sparking or not? Stupid question but you didn’t accidentally knock off the handlebar switch did you?

I had this happen to my 748 and it was the ignition relay, I believe it's
the yellow relay on the right side near the starter solenoid.
Another issue when it was turning over but not starting was the injector
relays.

Try some ether. If it fires up, some sort of fuel issue. If not it's an
ignition problem.

Simply hearing that relay fuel pump noise no guarantee injectors getting fuel and since you went in tank and did substantial maintenance there would recheck that work. Lots of things can go wrong there. Ignition less likely if it cranks. Course check for spark by pulling ply and grounding to head and if spark bet it is something back in tank.Heck I did a spirited ride years ago locally with Polen. Got back to dealership and fuel leaking out. The hose that connects overflow at fill inside tank at bottom slipped off and was fixing to empty tank on ground. I had not that much before been in tank and that line has no pressure on it as just overflow pass through. But if it comes loose at bottom it is an oh shit moment. Cleaned tank? Think fuel pump trashed up?

I bought a 750 Monster to flip that the guy couldn’t get running.
The upper fuel line inside the tank had no hose clamp on it. As soon as the pump turned on it blew off the nipple.
Installed a hose clamp and started right away.
Had so much fun with it after I did some upgrades I kept it. Damn Ducatis!!
