History of Ducati owners

The company has been sold so many times I cannot keep track yet it has
managed to survive. I think it was run by the Italian government at two
different times, Cagiva, Ducati motor holding, Texas Pacific, another that
I cannot remember the name but was a textile company and now VW. I can
remember buying stock but then they took it private and bought my stock
which I really did not want to sell. Maybe someone with a better memory can
name all the companies that have owned it.

My memory is shot but according to Wiki...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ducati_(company)

Began producing bikes for Societa Italiana per Applicazioni Technice
Auto-Avatorie (SIATA) in 1960's
Purchased by Cagiva in 1985
Sold to Texas Pacific Group (51% ownership) in 1996
TPG acquires remaining ownership becoming sole owner in 1999, then
TPG IPO, TPG sells 65% of shares, remains majority shareholder.
TPG sells its stake (minus one share) to Inventindustrial Holdings
(investment fund of Carlo and Andrea Bonomi) in December 2005.
VW/Audi acquires 100% of shares in July 2012 (for $909M)

My Ducati books are still in boxes, so I cannot consult them, but I would
argue that Wikipedia (if that is indeed the source) is missing about 10
years of the start. Otherwise, how do you account for my 1950 Cucciolo?
This was their first venture from electrics to motorized bikes/motorcycles.
It looks like a bicycle, but the engine casing says "Ducati."

Ciao Silvio,
Thanks and really nice to hear from you. Hope everyone is well. Maybe you can answer this:

I had heard that the Vatican was at one point invested in Ducati. Would they have been a backer of the Christian Democrats of IRI?

Thanks,
Vicki

Hi,

we are fine, even if the covid in lombardy, emilia and veneto hit very hard,

Very hard to say they could be investors, I have no news of this, but I don't think so.

ciao
