I am a descendant of a William Steele, who was a stowaway from Ireland when he was 9 years old. I only have information about him from America, not Ireland. My grandmother wrote that he never wrote to his family to tell them where or how he was. We don’t even know his parents’ names or from what part of Ireland he came. He was my 2nd great-grandfather. Where would I look to find a connection?

Sheryl,
I may be able to help - I am a "Steele" descendant - but of course not sure if there is a link. My Steeles were from Townland Clare, Parish Kildress - just west of Cookstown.
It would help if you could give some approximate dates for when young Master Steele got adventurous.
Perhaps respond to my private email address (as per sender of this email) to save clogging up the whole group.
