Ducati Digest gibberish

Colin, Mike, Peer, Ted,

I just changed your settings to Mime and I need to know if this helps.  I changed everyone to plain text a couple of weeks ago but now I’m thinking maybe that was a mistake.

Please email me if this doesn’t work better for you

(and anyone else - text the digest enrolled email to 954-673-0877 and I’ll make the change today)

On that setting you will get the photos posted to the list as well.

I’m not even sure what digest mode is, but pretty sure I’m not on it. The posts I see are pretty straightforward without much “gibberish”. It doesn’t seem like I see every photo posted though-only some of them.

STeve,
‘Digest mode’ delivers all of the messages, from some (as yet unknown to me) timeframe, in one message.
( Sometimes it’s daily, sometimes I get 3 digest messages in one day.)
You get one message... and see all of the messages in one at the end of the day.
For example, the recent discussion on MM93.
All of that came through in one message so in ‘digest’, you can see Lan, Jim, Gene, Pags,... everyone’s comments in one pseudo-conversation format.
I prefer it.
🙂

Thanks, Tom. Seems like that kind of makes sense to bundle everything together-sometimes I have to switch around a bit from one email to another to keep track of a long thread of conversation. Vicki, is it a big deal for you to put me in digest mode so I can see if that is a desirable alternative to what I have now, and if it somehow doesn’t work for me, for you to switch it back? I just hate having you jump back and forth through hoops on my behalf……..

The list generates digests based on activity and amount of content.  So if, say, three people post good sized responses that might be enough to generate a digest mailing from the list.  Basically it’s set on a certain size and when it reaches it, out goes a digest.  The downside is that if you are on digest you aren’t always in the timeline of the conversation as it happens.  Stephen, for you I think digest would be ok but maybe the new Archive site would be better.  I find it really useful, makes the conversations clear, and now that’s how I read and respond to most of the posts.

Please check it out, it’s pretty wonderful:

Vicki, I like that a lot!  Even on email it is sometimes difficult to follow the threads of messages. Is it possible to stop the emails and strictly use the archives?

Yes, but the downside is then you don't know what is being discussed.  I
leave the emails and when I see something come in I open the Empathy
List Archives (harmonylists.io)
https://harmonylists.io/empathy/list/ducati.list.ducati.net link.
Basically I use the emails like notifications on my phone.
But I can turn delivery off if you want and keep you as a member.
