I, too, owned a 907i.e. and loved it. I disagree about the poor handling with the 17" wheels, but I know there was an issue with carrying passengers - they blocked the mirrors!

Also the handbuilt Tamburini prototype they show in the photos is in my garage :-)
Interesting piece of trivia - this bike?s paint was the first application of what became ?Ducati Red?.

Very interesting bike. I rode the 750 and was uncomfortable but that was
most likely because it was the first modern Ducati I had ever ridden and I
was not prepared for the lack of steering lock. Almost dumped my friend's
new bike. I later rode a 907ie and thought it was wonderful. Very torque
motor and a comfortable bike too. I was disappointed when my friend sold
it without telling me it was for sale.

Bought my 907 new, 1st one in CO & my 1st Fucsti, never getting rid of it.
HC pistons, Ferracci/Muzzy pipes, euro taillight.
Great 2 up bike for my wife & I.

I loved the workmanship of my 907ie, the sound, the effortless power delivery, a very nice bike. I have to agree about the height making it a bit top heavy to maneuver in the city and a bit of a challenge for my shorter legs in emergencies? but then, after a three year relationship, I fell in love with the 916. The perfect bike for me. I still have the 916, in near stock condition. Its more eye candy now days as I just can?t get comfortably into that fetal position. A couple times I?ve thought about selling it, but that red?..
