Staton,
I'm not sure whether I should be honored or offended. I thought we were
already best friends, but am so glad we are now.
If it helps you make this unwise purchase, I still have not gotten off my
ass and started my Cucciolo, after my first failed attempt some few years
ago. Damn thing was fully restored, and just needs someone who has a clue
about what they are doing to get it running. Maybe next week.
Good luck.

Staton,
I know nothing about this model, but can tell you from looking, that:
A. This bike is a dog
B. You've got to buy it.
C. You will spend at least 5 times what it costs to restore it, not
counting all the hours of labor.
D. I'm sorry I am not doing Hill House anymore, cause this bike, properly
restored, would be the gem that resides in the living room.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun doing it.

Howdy,

I found a 1962 Ducati Bronco on the local FB marketplace.  It is said to
run after just a few kicks, but the owner said he didn?t watch it shift
through gears.  It was run via an external tank, so I am imagining a tank
cleaning will be the first thing.

The owner has the original paperwork from when it was bought in 1962 and

a

Title.  Cosmetically it appears to be extremely worn but original.  Seat

is

in rough shape, but from pics I found on line, it looks like the original
seat. I think the wheels are close to being done for from corrosion, but
I?ll know more tomorrow when I see it in person.  It looks like the

tinwork

is all there.  I?ve found limited info on line, but overall, it just

seems

like it would be fun to tinker with in the garage.  I scheduled to check

it

out tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the ad if you want to take a look.

My goal would be to get it ridable and mechanically sound as possible.
Maybe some point down the road consider a restoration of some sort.  I
really like the tank for some reason.

Does anyone had any idea on possible value?  I don?t know if it is really
worth a couple hundred bucks or if he has it priced fairly at $1000.    I
figure a running engine in and of itself has some value to me from a
tinkering in the garage perspective.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Staton

Thanks Brian.

I will need to familiarize myself with those sites. I did buy the bike.

We were able to start it and run it through the gears while in center stand. Gas tank is in surprisingly good shape regarding the interior. It is missing the throttle assembly and throttle cable and will need a new clutch cable. It's also missing the front foot pegs for the pilot and one rear foot peg. Also has a non correct exhaust assembly.  Other than that, it seems to be complete save for a few minor things here and there but overall I think it's a very solid example.

The bike was originally sold in Temple Texas, and it appears to have been off the road since 1968. I have the title along with all the updated registrations up to that point. The seller bought an old  motorcycle shop plus contents and it was packed full of old bikes. The original sellers thought they'd removed all of the non Japanese bikes from the site, but this little Ducati was in a corner covered in parts.  Neat story to hear the process of digging it out.

This will take a while, I can't wait.
