Talk to me about the Lightning Strike please. What motivated you to make the purchase? Have you ridden one?
I bought a Luna Sur Ron for a backyard plaything/light trail bike and am VERY pleased with it. Super cool little machine.

Pags,
This is a much longer response than I had planned, but a pretty complete
write up of my experience.
I took all the criticisms of Lightning with a grain of salt, and was
impressed with the descriptions of the bike. Plus, since it is derived from
the LS218, which is a pretty impressive bike, I thought it should be good.
BTW, I bought the Carbon edition. This is the lesson I learned from buying
a 900SS-CR, then, after calculating all the things I wanted to do with it,
bought a 900SS-SP.
I was able to arrange a brief test ride with Richard, and my initial
impressions were mostly very positive. I followed Richard around the area
for a bit. There is a video of a longer test ride on Youtube.

There was no way to really put the thing through its paces, but I was
impressed. Power was what you would expect from an electric motor: smooth,
strong and all there at any rpm or speed. I did not get a chance for WOT,
but what I did try was,... Wow! Brakes also felt good, as I had to make an
emergency brake when so A**hole cut me off on the highway. Handling felt
neutral and responsive, but the true test is on the twisties or racetrack.
My only concern on that first ride was the ergonomics of the seat, footpegs
and bodywork. You can tuck your knees behind the fairing, which should
reduce wind resistance and allow for using this bracing when braking. What
I did not like about it was how it put me pretty far back in the seat. I
like to move pretty far forward as I am entering a turn. The footpegs are
adjustable, so this should help. Perhaps, I need to adjust my riding style
to fit (sign of a good rider, right?). We will see when I pick the thing up
and start riding it for real. Of course, when will this be? I know how
urgent and essential I believe this to be, but the constabulary may have a
diffeent opinion.
Did I answer your questions?

Indeed you did - I like everything you said here. Interesting that the
ergos don't work for you as you would think that's among the easiest things
to get "right". But then again, the Multi 1200 footpegs are too far
inboard for me too, and was a pet peeve of mine for sure (and Ducati knows
a bit about ergos by now I would think).
Can't wait for your full review. $20k isn't something to sneeze at here,
so I hope you're stoked on it once you can play with it more - and I hope
that happens soon! Be safe out there, who would have thought motorcycles
were safer than going food shopping?
