I get the point, but really, MM was pushing because he's driven, regardless
who is at the front. He could have settled for 3rd - or 6th - or 10th and
salvaged points, but that's not how he's wired and exactly why he's a
champion. Nobody was pushing Marc's pace more than MM himself.
It was perhaps the most amazing run through the field I've ever seen...
Yep, I pretty much agree with all of that.
Super Mario, As one of the aged I ask you look into Cal! Rayborn that is... What he did @ the Easter Match Races, on an iron head HD, in England is, to me, >unapproachable. Also Freddy Spencer had more speed than MM
Yes, I'm aware that Cal was amazing and was taken from us way too soon. And I'm one of the biggest Freddie Spencer fans in the world...he is still my all-time favorite. Even as big a fan as I am of Fast Freddie, I don't know about that "had more speed than MM" statement. Maybe he had as much pure talent. I don't remember Freddie having a race quite like this last one of MM93's. I seem to remember a couple of races where Freddie got a bad start and had to work his way through the field but nothing like what Marc just did. But as far as a total body of work; total number of wins and World Championships, I stand by the group that I listed.
MM93 went in for the surgery today. All went well and no nerve damage.
Phew!!!

Kevin brought up a point that I also was thinking but just slightly
different. Yes, he crashed as a result of a mistake that he made. But
also, he crashed pushing hard because of the speed of Quatararo. So in a
way, FQ won that race in more ways than one.
