Oh and my Point?
It's outstanding what I've seen people accomplish when they simply Make a
Decision to do it. And if it were easy.. well... That's just less fun.
Anyway here's to the people who make the decision to ride.
Because Yay.
Ride well.

Golly.
20+ years ago, knew a nice lady, all by herself at the time, intent on
riding to Italy but Iran was in her way.
Self proclaimed "Citizen of the world" from Quebec. Janyk (Ya-Neek
actually a boy's name). We were perhaps 25.
She ended up 'forcing' "them" to carry her and her motorcycle in the back
of a pickup from one end of the country to the other. So she says. And I
believe her.
If any person I've met could pull it off, it would have been Janyk. AKA
Fifi (for the pigtails).
What bike? Good question. Coming from India, so would have been an Enfield.

That was easy compared to this journey.

Small and lighter for me as I dip my toes back into off road riding. MABDR, then maybe NEBDR.
Been out west on big bikes last few years NV,AZ,CO,WY,MT,ID,UT. If things go well on the Himalayan I might plan a trip west. I thought about a Ducati scrambler but decided after watching a few videos it would be a shame to get one of those all banged up and dirty.
Ryan I think the TAT starts near you, that would be a trip.

Hey Gene,
I did the MADBR on the big GS (sections 1-5) and it’s OK. Wielding the 600 lbs bike can be a bit of work. As mentioned, I drank the GS Kool Aid but a man’s gotta know his limitation!!!
I do plan on getting a smaller ADV in the near future, but more so like a KTM 690 Enduro. That’s probably as big as I want to personally want to get if I were to do the TAT. But with four small kids, that’s not happening anytime soon!
It’s been a while since you and I chatted in person, I hope all is well with you Gene. Some of the old MAD guys do miss having you around.

Yeah, it has been awhile Ryan, sure would be good to meetup sometime.
It's true you get shorter with age no GS for me or Multi either, the Himalayan is fine for me. I raced my last enduro on my OSSA 250 Super Pioneer, 209 lbs, ~25 HP in 1976, plenty of power, no traction control, and brakes were less than ideal. The Himalayan has ~24HP and weighs double so it's got built-in traction control. And it will do 70MPH on a paved road.
I did do several test rides on the HD Pan American, it fits fine with that ARH system but the cost and weight are a bit much.
I'm still around and still riding thankfully. I'm thankful every time I do a ride. I am so blessed to have the skills and the means to own and ride motorcycles and sometimes with great friends. There are many people who have never got to experience that. I even think about some we've lost when I'm on a ride.
I still ride the M900 but not so much on trips, although I did take it on a trip with some of my riding buddies out to a little town in WV that has a great little Swiss Restuarant. It is a little village in the middle of nowhere founded by Swiss immigrants. Meanwhile for longer trips the Diavel with Shad hard bags has become my sport tourer, although it's more like an old man's superbike. I think I'm going to try and take a trip to Barber on it this next year.
Still riding my Victory's to far away places and the countryside west of NOVA.
I'll be leaving Virginia and moving to Florida sometime next year I hope, but I'll be coming back from time to time to ride the great roads of VA/WV and SE Ohio.
Let's make an effort to meetup. My personal email is twolanefun@outlook.com
