Frank,
Just wanted to let you know that when I left the station at 11.05 tonight
I saw a homeless guy walking across the parking lot.....I've seen that many
times so I just stayed out of sight until I thought he left. But then as I
was getting ready to open the door he was standing at the driver's door of
my car looking in. He looked up and saw me and just stood there. Being
low key terrified I went into the back to find the number for 5 cities
security and called them twice. Both times it was a message that the
person's voicemail had not been set up. Is it the wrong number?
Then I tried the police non-emergency but there was a phone tree to leave a
message.
I ended up calling Marissa to stay on the phone with me while I went to my
car. (thanks!)
Could you please find out why 5 Cities doesn't answer their phone and if
they can do more drive-bys at night? This is a concern for anyone working
late hours at the station.
Also, it would be good to have the numbers for security and police
non-emergency posted near the front door.
Thanks! :) 🙏

Hi Laura et al,
Laura, thanks for bringing this to my attention.
For everyone, if you ever feel unsafe when here alone, you should contact
911 immediately. And if they tell you to contact their non-emergency #,
express that you feel unsafe because there’s someone between you and your
vehicle and ask them to send a patrol by.
If you call 911, I advise you to call from one of the KCBX phones (pick up
receiver and dial 9 for an outside line). That automatically puts our
location and company name in the 911 system, and the dispatcher can forward
it to officers in the field with the click of a button. If you call from
your cell phone, they may have to verbally ask for the location info, and
enter it manually.
The Security company is for the entire complex, and contracted and paid for
by the property owners. I found out this morning that 5 Cities Security
recently went out of business, and they’re looking for a replacement
company. I’ll let you know what our procedures will be once they contract
with a new company.
If no staff are present, please send me an email if you encounter anything
out of the ordinary that has to do with security, safety and/or people
roaming around. It helps us better inform the property owner and law
enforcement about our ongoing situation here. Of all of the businesses in
our 2 building complex, except for a couple of the Church activities, we’re
the only occupant with people here late at night. So it’s important that we
keep a record of what’s going on.
Reminder - On weekends or if you will be leaving KCBX when dark, you should
always park in the front, close to the front door.
Please let me know if you have other concerns or issues.
Thank you,
Frank
