Hi all,
This Wednesday, October 1, is the first day without federal funding for
public media. But the story we’re telling isn’t one of loss. It’s one
of resilience,
determination, fierce independence, and gratitude. Public media is
powered by people. Every day, you bring journalism, music, and cultural
storytelling to our community. Our mission endures because it must.
Between October 1 and October 3, we encourage you to take a moment during
your shift to read one of the scripts attached or put the message in your
own words. The first scripts attached are written specifically for October
1, but if you have a show on the 2nd or 3rd, please read a script for
October 2 and 3.
We’d love it if you’d give your own message. If you do, here are some
prompts:
- *Acknowledge the moment: *Our first day without federal funding.
-
Affi*rm resilience: *We will not go dark or be silenced.
- Remind audiences we’re here today because of their support.
- Share why public media matters to you, in your own words. This could
mean:
- Why you chose this work and what keeps you here.
- What it means to reach across divides and speak into thousands of
homes.
- Or simply, the connection you feel with listeners.
Thank you!
Marisa
