Good luck on your planned purchase Staton - Side note is that I purchased a 1964 Ducati Bronco 125 when I was 14 (Arizona had a motorcycle license for 14 yr old) & enjoyed the bike very much for duration of high school.

Once again, best wishes on your endeavor.  You should enjoy it.

No offense intended, it was rhetorical.  We are.  😊

I hope the visit goes well tomorrow and I can bring it home.

I’ll keep you updated!  Good luck to you as well with the Cucciolo.  That should be cool as all get out when you are done.

Staton,
I'm not sure whether I should be honored or offended. I thought we were
already best friends, but am so glad we are now.
If it helps you make this unwise purchase, I still have not gotten off my
ass and started my Cucciolo, after my first failed attempt some few years
ago. Damn thing was fully restored, and just needs someone who has a clue
about what they are doing to get it running. Maybe next week.
Good luck.

Staton,
I know nothing about this model, but can tell you from looking, that:
A. This bike is a dog
B. You've got to buy it.
C. You will spend at least 5 times what it costs to restore it, not
counting all the hours of labor.
D. I'm sorry I am not doing Hill House anymore, cause this bike, properly
restored, would be the gem that resides in the living room.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun doing it.

Howdy,

I found a 1962 Ducati Bronco on the local FB marketplace.  It is said to
run after just a few kicks, but the owner said he didn’t watch it shift
through gears.  It was run via an external tank, so I am imagining a tank
cleaning will be the first thing.

The owner has the original paperwork from when it was bought in 1962 and

a

Title.  Cosmetically it appears to be extremely worn but original.  Seat

is

in rough shape, but from pics I found on line, it looks like the original
seat. I think the wheels are close to being done for from corrosion, but
I’ll know more tomorrow when I see it in person.  It looks like the

tinwork

is all there.  I’ve found limited info on line, but overall, it just

seems

like it would be fun to tinker with in the garage.  I scheduled to check

it

out tomorrow afternoon.

Here is the ad if you want to take a look.

My goal would be to get it ridable and mechanically sound as possible.
Maybe some point down the road consider a restoration of some sort.  I
really like the tank for some reason.

Does anyone had any idea on possible value?  I don’t know if it is really
worth a couple hundred bucks or if he has it priced fairly at $1000.    I
figure a running engine in and of itself has some value to me from a
tinkering in the garage perspective.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,
Staton

Jack,

Sounds like a very cool high school ride! I'm jealous. all I had in high school was an old Batavus moped.

I'll send an update this evening after I find out whether or not I'll be able to get the bike.

Side note - there's been literally 2 times in my life I've actually gone to
check out a bike I really wanted to buy and passed on it.

One was a ZX6E that was horribly misrepresented, had no title and a hacked
wiring harness.  The other was a YZ125 that after the pics were taken,
clearly had been ridden and crashed hard quite a few times.  I was still
in, but the dude wouldn't budge on the advertised price even given the
obvious difference in condition.

Looking forward to hearing of your success!

Yup, good luck Staton.NDC, but Italian.  I had a seller pass on ME! He thought I was a tire-kicker (which I do often feign) and he unapologetically didn't feel that I was worthy of his tired old Moto Guzzi rat bike.  Wouldn't sell it.  I left his house to find the slave seal on my ST2 had chosen that moment to release every drop of fluid on the road, 2 hours from home - another story.I inquired a month later and it was still around so he changed his tune (my persistence?) and sold it to me.  I turned that 1975 Guzzi 850T into a beautiful cafe racer over the following 8-9 months. Still have it (and yes, there is more time and $ in it than it is worth now.....). But that's ok.
