I put a new set of clip ons on my 1996 SS
I’m pretty sure 1.5” is about as high as you can go with coffin style masters
2” would be MAXED

Subject: [Ducati] '96 900SS/CR bar risers

Hey folks,

Rode my 900SS/CR for the first time in almost two years and was absolutely thrilled with the performance and feeling of being hurled down the road by that thumping V-twin, but alas, my back was hurting after just 30 minutes onboard.  Which got me thinking that if it were more comfortable, I would ride it a lot more.  (that's not why I hadn't ridden it in almost two years, long story there...).  Anyway, I remember seeing a 900SS with ST2 bar risers on it and thinking it was a seamless look, like they were built and installed for that bike.  A guy I know has a couple sets of ST2 risers that are of different configurations and I don't have a clue which ones would fit my bike.  He also has a set of Heli-bars.

Does anyone here have any experience or insight into doing this modification?  Which ST2 risers work on a '96 900SS/CR with the stock forks?  Do I have to change the triple clamp too?  Anyone put Heli-bars on a 900SS?

Thanks in advance,

Mario

hmmm...I have a coffin style master on the clutch side but a round one on my Brembo RCS master brake which sits more inside of the cockpit.  I'm not averse to trimming my fairing though. I don't want to, but if that's what it takes to get where I want to be, I might.

You said you put a "new set of clip ons"....what kind did you put on? New stock ones?

Wood Craft has clip ons which have the riser part that bolts to the part
that goes around the fork tube.  The riser comes in several different
heights which is nice.  If you convert to more modern master cylinders with
the remote reservoirs you can mount them to the inside end of the clip on
bar.  Cycle Cat set theirs up that way.  I usually just drill and tap the
plastic plug or use a large well nut.  They make an aluminum carrier for
the reservoir.
