Hi all!

I’d like to offer my congratulations publicly to KCBX News reporter
Gabriela Fernandez and let you all know she has been selected, along with
two other reporters in California, to receive one-on-one coaching for the
next three months from NPR’s collaborations editor Amy Isackson.

Amy will work daily with this small cohort to help them plan, report, write
and edit daily news and feature stories for local air and, when
appropriate, pitch for state and national broadcast. This exciting
opportunity is made possible by The California Newsroom, which is a
collaboration of California public radio stations, NPR and CalMatters.

And while I’m talking about the California Newsroom, I’d like to mention
that this wonderful collaboration has provided KCBX News with lots of
valuable training, editing and support over the last few years. We’re lucky
that they’re funded to help small stations like ours, along with the big
projects they work on, like statewide broadcasts and collaborative
reporting.

Hooray!

Marisa
