What further information are you hoping to locate? If you find a forebear in the Cookstown/ Derryloran Griffiths Valuation, it is useful to refer to the tithe applotment books of the 1820s and 30s. Derryloran tithepayers have been transcribed and can be found at

Are you searching for church records? Any idea of a denomination?

Thank you, Len, for your reply.
In the Griffith’s Valuation for Derryloran Parish, there are listed two Thomas Hamiltons. I am 99% sure one of these is a 4xGreat grandfather. I know, from his son’s marriage records, that this fellow was a butcher and my question is…are there any records that might confirm an occupation?
In all honestly I know I am pretty lucky to be this far back in my family history but was curious as to whether I could possible find any more information. (I have checked the St.Luran Derryloran church records)
I must reiterate what a great site and group this is!
Thanks, Chris

Hello again Chris,
Thanks again for your very kind comments.
Perhaps this is your man?

Registration District of Cookstown
Gortalowry Townland, Derryloran Parish
July 23 1874, Gortalowry: Thomas Hamilton, male, married, aged 47 years, occupation butcher. Cause of death: restriction of the urethra, retention of urine for ten [?] days. Informant Mary Ann Hamilton, present at death, Gortalowry. Registered July 30 1874
I tend to think that both entries for Thomas refer to the same ratepayer as William Street becomes James Street as you move through the town; Gortalowry lies adjacent. Perhaps Thomas had a couple of “nice little earners” as investments? Hope this give some data gives scope for further research. This is the only reference I have located for a Thomas Hamilton described a butcher. If Thomas left a will, it was not probated
apps.proni.gov.uk/WillsCalendar_IE/WillsSearch.aspx
– perhaps Mary Ann did and worth a search.
Hope this helps
