Here is my photo of the gravestone at the Newtownstewart Church of Ireland cemetery. It has my 3rd great grandparents John and Martha Chambers and Margaret Lynch.

I am still trying to find John’s parents and siblings. That has been my brick wall.

John and Martha had three children: Thomas, Mary Ann, and George. Thomas and Mary Ann came to NYC and I have their lineage pretty well mapped out. George stayed in Ireland but had no children. So, I have been snooping around some the relations to possibly find a connection to someone still in Ireland.

Martha(1792-1866) and Margaret(1807-1879) were sisters of Sir Thomas Maclear(1794-1879). They all grew up at Moyle Cottage in Moyle Glebe which is just outside of Newtownstewart and not far from Gortin.

Margaret’s daughter, Annie Matilda Alcorn, named one of her daughters, Elizabeth Chambers Alcorn.

A strange middle name, but maybe Annie like her aunt Martha.

I'm having trouble connecting Margaret Lynch of Gort School, Errigal Keerogue Parish, Co. Tyrone to the McClear family of Newtownstewart and have collated some records to support my concerns. Margaret appears to be part of a family well-connected to Gort School with her father as schoolmaster and supported by her two siblings Ellen & Bridget.

Thanks to the group for this information on County Tyrone schools.
I see that my 3rd great-grandaunt, Margaret Lynch (n?e Maclear), worked at Gort School. Does anyone know where in the Gortin area this school is/was ?

Margaret Lynch is on the gravestone along with my 3rd great grandparents, John and Martha Chambers at the Newtownstewart cemetery.
