Hi.  NDC.
Since reading Paul's personal story with Superbike racing earlier this
year I'd kept an eye out for further motorsports books recently.  And
capitalizing on inter-MotoGP-posting-lull.  Just read two historical
accounts and I'd recommend either or both.
F1 fans might enjoy Neal Bascomb's Faster.  His writing can be fairly
technically detailed, yet with some of the story telling of a novel.
Covers virtually all pre-war Grand Prix history and in particular the
efforts of a small French manufacturer, an American heiress and a Jewish
driver.
Fans of 2 stroke design and early motorcycle GP might enjoy Mat Oxley's
Stealing Speed (the biggest spy scandal in motorsports history).  A
little bit sensationalized re WWII & cold war, but the historical
context and team/racer stories contained much worthwhile insight to the
rise of Japan's 2 stroke era.
(without at all intending to, for some reason I've read at least 8 books
about or somehow related to WWII already this year... weird)
