Thanks Len, I always read these -- and today I learned two things
- the meaning of instant vs. ultimo (current month vs. prior -- had
to look it up!)
- folks could make some stunning choices over religion
(Rita Gomez, a Portuguese Protestant... The Roman Catholic
authorities refusing permission for interment, the body was thrown into
the sea).
Appreciate all you do!

Thanks Dave!
Pleased you like it and thanks for your sentiments; it is a rare day indeed that I receive a response to any of my postings.
In the period prior to the introduction of civil registration, newspaper announcements of birth, deaths and marriages are important and often provide information that a registration certificate does not.
I would be pleased to hear from CTI listers who find these posts interesting and useful. Should I continue?
All the best,
Len

Hi Len,
Please keep the posts up if you can. I always read the CTI posts,
especially the newspaper reports. I find them interesting and useful.
I haven't said 'thank you' because I feel I shouldn't clog up the list with
chatter... but a big
THANK YOU
from me

Len what you do is fantastic -- please keep it up (within your personal limits, of course - you have to have a life!)
I hope for the day when something pops up that unblocks some of my walls.
Meantime they are great reads and reflections of the times.. Colour expressive language, and the social customs of the day broadens the mind !

All the best,
Len

Thanks Len, I always read these -- and today I learned two things
1. the meaning of instant vs. ultimo (current month vs. prior -- had to look it up!)
2. folks could make some stunning choices over religion
(Rita Gomez, a Portuguese Protestant... The Roman Catholic authorities refusing permission for interment, the body was thrown into the sea).
Appreciate all you do!
Dave

I too enjoy them. Have found a few things relative to my grandfather’s McCann / Davison family over the years. I have many old newspaper articles but have never shared as I’m not sure exactly what you’d want to add or how to share findings. Or the legality of sharing an article that I copied from findmypast. Can someone transcribe an article or send a file of such an article??
Maybe you could give an idea of what you want shared. And who to address it to.

Yes, Len. Please continue with our greatest of gratitude.
I'm sure that there are many of us that you have helped but are nonetheless
unaware of it. This includes myself. My family has long been able unable to
get any traction with any connections in Ireland and it is your work that
has given us a reasonable area of triangulation to focus on, if not the
first records. For that, I am deeply grateful.
I have chosen to not reach out in an attempt to respect yours and everyone
else's time and should not be read as a lack of appreciation or interest.
Warm regards,
Colleen
