Vicki, is this the same format/series/racing as we saw recently with Rins, Marquez, Vinales et al? Meaning, will it be the same software/gaming platform that was used for that race? I did my due diligence and watched the whole thing, but I couldn’t feel the love, but this is coming from an older guy who is not a gamer in the first place. It’s hard enough for me to enjoy virtual motorcycle racing if I try playing on my own let alone watching other people do it when the “physics” seems silly to me. I wonder if it's because I’m a racer myself and can’t make sense of (my perceived) the lack of realism in how the bikes work in the game, or do non-racers feel the same way. I’m curious how many from the group watched the e-race, and what the general consensus is on how much it was/wasn’t enjoyed.

I assume so but all I have watched so far is car stuff. NASCAR Homestead was actually really good, the finish was good enough that we were yelling at the tv. ( I’m a Dale Jr fan and the real Dale Jr was in the lead pack).  Barber Indycar was decent, at times it looked real enough to trick you.  For what it’s worth, e/i racing is attracting giant viewer numbers but more importantly it’s giving the sponsors exposure so they are staying involved. In my opinion if you want to see racing in the future consider giving this an embrace. It’s the safety net for sports we love right now.  It’s on main stream networks now because numbers like 600,000 viewers got their attention. And also because it includes real racers that practice on Twitch all week it shortens the string between the fans and the racers.
Also- the number one concern is that it will attract young people but leave the old (current) fans out of the mix. So believe it or not, the demographic many of us represent is important for a change. Which is sort of perfect/hilarious in my opinion.

I watched the first e-race, and found it amusing and enjoyable, but nothing
like the real thing. I expect to watch future e-races, but will not go out
of my way. For example, I will not be getting up at 4am to watch a race,
which I did regularly with MotoGP live races (my partner still doesn't
understand this).

What is with all this special treatment for Sr. Citizen's, have you noticed that.

Now if we could just get them to open the bars just so a few of us can sit a safe distance and have a beer with some of our buddies - seniors only.

It's National Beer day and I'll be celebrating with the birds and squirrels on my back deck.
