Hi all,

This morning, I saw an inspiring article (attached) by our colleague
Ernesto Aguilar at KQED. Every time I talk to Ernesto I get inspired. He
wrote this article not long after the rescission vote that ended funding
for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. It focuses on “storytelling,”
but the ideas here can apply to music formats as well as news/talk.

The timing to read this is perfect, as we ask our listeners to step up
during pledge drive, and as we ponder how to do even better by our
listeners so the swell of support we’re seeing post-rescission continues
year over year in the absence of federal funds.

Ernesto includes a video of Mr. Rogers speaking before the Senate Commerce
Committee in 1969. Many of us have seen it before, but it’s worth watching
again as you read the article.

Best,

Marisa
