Streetfighter V4 Throttle Response

I just got back from a couple of demo rides the Ducati dealer in Las Vegas had today. I rode the Streetfighter V4S and they said we had to leave all the demo bikes in the Street Mode. I found the throttle response was horrible, when shifting manual, it would hesitate when you let the clutch out, when using the Quick Shifter, there was a harsh jump and delay. If you closed the throttle then opened it back up, there was a hesitation, a big hesitation, 2 or 3 seconds. When on the freeway at 75mph, (third gear, 7500RPM) if you let off on the throttle just a little bit, there was a strange chuffing sound from the exhaust.
It was very annoying, and if this was the way it rode, I would not buy it.
I talked to the guy that rode it in the group after me and he said he switched it to Race Mode, and there was no hesitation on the throttle at all. The salesman said that the throttle response is better in the race mode, it’s different fueling in that Mode.  When I rode the new Monster, there was really no difference in the throttle response between Race and Touring mode. No throttle hesitation in either mode.

I would have said the mixture was too rich. If it had carburetors, I’d say the Pilot Jet needs to be smaller and the Needle lowered a notch. On my Monster, it started acting that way and I cleaned the fuel injector nozzles and that it fixed it. If I bought the Streetfighter and it acted that way, I would have taken it back to the dealer and said “Fix It”

So is that the way it is with the Streetfighter, bad throttle response in Street Mode?  Do you always have to run it in Race Mode?
