Thanks Len for another Hearth Roll.  Do you think that the Clonicle included might be Clonteclae?  Sadly, the person listed is not known to me, but i'm just hoping it's a reference to where my McQuades lived.

Thanks Len for another Hearth Roll. Do you think that the Clonicle included might be Clonteclae? Sadly, the person listed is not known to me, but i'm just hoping it's a reference to where my McQuades lived. Hello Dorothy,

Yes, I would accept Clonicle as a corruption of the spelling of Cloneclae; phonetic spelling was the norm in days of old. And I would not expect the residents to have remained static as almost everyone in Ireland was a tenant of the landed gentry and there was great fluidity as they sought a better lease elsewhere/ emigrated or were moved on for non-payment of rent.
