Important reminder for ALL DJs

Just a reminder that all playlists for your shows, recorded, live AND
evergreen, need to be entered each week BEFORE or as the show is airing,
not after it has aired. The playlists have multiple applications but the
most important is so listeners can get more information about what they are
hearing at that moment, either by the metadata readout on their device, in
their car or home or by actually going to the playlists on the webpage and
looking. That is why it HAS to be available while the show is airing
because that is when the listener is most likely to need it. Besides
entering it on time, the info needs to be correct, including the times the
songs air, how long the breaks are and etc. The info YOU enter is what the
listeners are using, so entering incorrect times and song lengths and song
info is not helping the playlist be of value to the listener. Also, please
do not enter ANYTHING but the song info. Don't type in your name or that
there is a break or anything like that on the song entry lines. JUST the
song info, please. Anything else mucks up the system.
I also need playlists that are correct for tracking. I need to know what
you played. But, I also need to have the info correct for when I need to
send reports to BMI ASCAP SoundExchange and so on.
There were at least 5 shows that didn't do playlists last week. I'm not
going to call anyone out here but you know if you did a playlist or not.
Please do them. I need them for us to stay legal but, more importantly, our
listeners find them useful.

Thank you!
Neal

Hi Neal,
In the event of an evergreen being played, can you let us know if and when they might play so we can post the playlist?  I didn't know one of my Night Train evergreens played over a week ago, so there's no playlist.
thanks,Jim

I've had a similar experience or two similar to what Jim described.

And I'd like to relate a Composer experience that happened to me today.
Several times through the day I tried accessing Composer but it appeared to
be offline. Finally, an hour or so before my show started I was able to
access it and input my playlist. As you all know there are a few ways to
get to the individual show in Composer, including the Calendar and Episodes
options. I input all of the music and could see it in the Episode Details
page (where all the songs are input). All good right? Well, upon checking,
Episodes did not show any songs input for Trotamundos while Calendar did?!
When the show began, a few minutes ago, I checked kcbx.org and could see
that no song details were being displayed despite the entire playlist being
shown in Composer - Episode Details. I went deep and exported the playlist
as a CSV file, opened another browser window for Composer, selected the
Episodes option and imported the CSV file. After this I checked kcbx.org
and the playlist is now being shown.

Most times Composer works fine, but every now and then it's not overly
reliable.

Hi David,

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

I've opened a support ticket with NPR. It seems to have to do with random
duplicate programs showing in the Composer Calendar.

Until they figure this out, you should create and edit your playlists by
accessing them through the episodes page in Composer. Do not use the
Calendar.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Thanks,
Greg
