Hi Jim

I had no idea CTIG hosted trees. I’ve been and read the info there and I just wanted to ask…

What are the benefits for me and for CTIG and other subscribers if I were to put up a tree?

Happy Easter to all
With thanks Chris Owen

WOW, Chris, your opening statement - "I had no idea CTIG hosted trees"
blows me away!
AND is of huge concern to us as the link to 'Supporters' Family Trees' is
on the homepage as well as the main page for every county.
It makes us wonder what else do our supporters miss seeing?
Do our supporters only visit the new pages as they are announced without
looking at our main menus?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm???

Anyway to your questions....... 'the benefits for me' -

  • YOU are the only person who can alter, add or remove any of your data
  • no one can connect other people or trees to your data
  • you are not helping direct traffic to a corporate website
  • possibly a 'long lost cousin' will see your tree and make contact
  • your tree is fully visible to the internet world at NO COST to you

...... 'the benefits........ for CTIG'......

  • here I'm assuming you mean CoTyroneIreland.com (aka CTI)
  • your tree may possibly attract a new user who finds your tree via a
    search of the internet
  • otherwise, CTI obtains no benefit

Hopefully this answers your concerns. If not, please respond.
Thanks for your support

Dear Jim and CTI subscribers

The offering of CTI hosted family trees is a significant and generous service provided by CTI. It is simple to use, well-laid out and has excellent search functions. It is a site worth MUCH wider exposure for those researching families in Co. Tryone and their diaspora.

I first put my Wilson tree up in 2023, I believe.  I have no record of someone reaching out to me, having first found my CTI hosted tree.  I am wondering how the individual family tree website is optimized for web searches?  Or maybe the link to Supporters' Family Trees just needs larger exposure on the various pages?

This is an amazing service that I suspect is under-utilized. Thank you to Jim and those who built and maintain it.
