Yep, this is indeed Punchy Friday:

As racer dude struts away: "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!!"
..and also notice how his bike just dropped him off and fled the scene:

(btw, both got slammed with a two-year suspension)

Yowsa-shades of Mamola there with the sideways body on a bike, but I certainly am curious as to what precipitated this event. With both betting suspended, one would assume that the barnacle rider was penalized for the puck in the head, but wonder what the infraction was by the taxicab rider…. Punchy is right!

Good one, Steve. It took me a moment to get the barnacle and taxicab jokes
(I wasted a few seconds trying to think of who these sponsers, Barnacles
and Taxicab, could be).
It is hard for me to tell from this angle, but Taxicab, aka 86, seemed to
be making a standard Marc Marquez pass (thereby reinforcing the law of
physics that  two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time).
Then make an amazing stop, considering how unstable his bike had become.
The barnacle (aka stunt rider), was way over the line (figuratively
speaking). Another rider puts me at risk, so I will then put both our lives
at risk, amplifying the danger. Then, instead of walking off the track, I'm
going to walk down the track.
I too, am confused as to the taxicab's infraction that warranted such a
penalty. Of course, we don't see what happened before and and after, and
the view of the initiating action is not that good. But, from the evidence
presented, I'd give the punching barnacle a 1 year suspension. For the
taxicab's penalty, I would have them start from pit lane for the next 3
races. That way, they can pick up and shuttle back any other riders who
fall. Heck, maybe these two have just shown us something new and exciting
to add to the sport. Can we require bike swaps on the straights from now
on? In MotoGP, at least, most teams have two riders, afterall.
And, how about how stable the barnacle's bike was after the rider got off?
I hear it finished on the podium. Reminds me of what the good riding
coaches say, that the bike is designed to be stable to do the things we
want it to do. Often, we riders just need to not get in the way.

Kevin, I think you have missed the fact that the “Barnacle” was in fact
trapped between the rear tire and the tail section. Once the back wheel became
effectively locked the quick stop was inevitable.
The bans seem straight forward to me. The "Taxicab" for causing the collision.
The "Barnacle' for throwing the punch.

I really would love to see the 5 seconds prior to the start of the video, because like KK said, I can’t tell what the Big Yellow Taxi’s infraction was that shows he caused the collision.
Making a mandatory rider swap while motoring down the straight would be quite entertaining, though……… I mean, they practice hopping from one bike to another to prep for a wet race bike swap, right?

BTW, I really got a kick out of your default neural path to the sponsor connection with the Barnacle and Taxicab thing. I laughed out loud when I saw that. As a wordsmith kind of guy, I really enjoyed it.

BTW, I really got a kick out of your default neural path to the sponsor connection with the Barnacle and Taxicab thing. I laughed out loud when I saw that. As a wordsmith kind of guy, I really enjoyed it. STeve > On Oct 9, 2021, at 5:27 AM, Kevin Kachadourian <kkachadourian@gmail.com> wrote: > > Good one, Steve. It took me a moment to get the barnacle and taxicab jokes (I wasted a few seconds trying to think of who these sponsers, Barnacles and Taxicab, could be). > It is hard for me to tell from this angle, but Taxicab, aka 86, seemed to be making a standard Marc Marquez pass (thereby reinforcing the law of physics that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time). Then make an amazing stop, considering how unstable his bike had become. The barnacle (aka stunt rider), was way over the line (figuratively speaking). Another rider puts me at risk, so I will then put both our lives at risk, amplifying the danger. Then, instead of walking off the track, I'm going to walk down the track. > I too, am confused as to the taxicab's infraction that warranted such a penalty. Of course, we don't see what happened before and and after, and the view of the initiating action is not that good. But, from the evidence presented, I'd give the punching barnacle a 1 year suspension. For the taxicab's penalty, I would have them start from pit lane for the next 3 races. That way, they can pick up and shuttle back any other riders who fall. Heck, maybe these two have just shown us something new and exciting to add to the sport. Can we require bike swaps on the straights from now on? In MotoGP, at least, most teams have two riders, afterall. > And, how about how stable the barnacle's bike was after the rider got off? I hear it finished on the podium. Reminds me of what the good riding coaches say, that the bike is designed to be stable to do the things we want it to do. Often, we riders just need to not get in the way. > > On Fri, 8 Oct 2021 at 23:42, stephen abramson <desmo900cr@gmail.com <mailto:desmo900cr@gmail.com>> wrote: > Yowsa-shades of Mamola there with the sideways body on a bike, but I certainly am curious as to what precipitated this event. With both betting suspended, one would assume that the barnacle rider was penalized for the puck in the head, but wonder what the infraction was by the taxicab rider….
