YES, Linda. Iowa had a large population of immigrants, Irish and others. They have a reputation for welcoming immigrants particularly back in the 1800s.

I noticed that your Sarah Baxter Wright married in Morgan County and died in Cass County, Illinois. Do you have any information on whether this area had a large group of Irish immigrants in them? My great grandfather, Robert Michael (b. Kilrea, County Londonderry, Ireland in 1838) lived and died in Mason and Cass Counties close to a cousin, George Michael (also from Kilrea area). Hadn't thought about it being an Irish area but perhaps it was.

· Sarah Jane McMurray (nee Wright) was born in 1826 in Ballynafeagh, County Tyrone to James Wright and Margaret Livingstone. Sarah married Robert McMurray on 4 Jan 1848 in Lisanane, County Tyrone. Sarah died on 11 Oct 1904 in Glasgow, Scotland.
