I'm going to repeat an earlier comment that is more appropriate to this
thread. Let's have tires made with less precision. So, instead of a
tire
designed to give incredible traction on surface A, in the sun, with an
air
temperature of 32 degrees centigrade, a track temperature of 52 degrees
centigrade and a wind of 12 knots, only; let's have a tire designed to
only
give very good traction on surfaces A,B, C and D at air temperatures
anywhere between 28 and 40, sun or shade, wind or not. Oh, yeah, and
for
Ducati, Honda, Suzuki, KTM, Aprilia, etc.
Totally agree Kevin!
That will sort the men from the boys quickly.
Those with the ability to ride their bikes in all conditions will rise
to the surface like cream unlike now where the tyres become the limiting
factor for everyone. Riding on rails one minute and slip sliding away on
marshmallow hoops the next.
I would like to see everyone competing against each other for the whole
race instead of conserving the tyres and holding position hopefully for
a quick dash at the end to get to the front before the tyres turn to
mush.
The riders should be the limiting factor, not the bloody tyres.

RAD
Wholeheartedly agree, but watch your bloody language (couldn't resist).
On a very tangentially related story, I recently sold my beloved '96
900SSSP to a good friend. I figured that I had squeezed thousands of miles
of thrill and fun out of that bike and it was time for someone else to
start on that same journey - like two birds with one stone, or an organ
transplant. Anyway, he is having a blast, but called the other day asking
me if I had the bike on track with the current tires. "No, why?" He was
wondering how the chicken strips had been erased and some pilling done
along the edges of the tires. I don't know,... know the bike, know the
road, .... It was a little boost for my aging ego.
Now, can I do that on the current bike? Well, so far, I know the road.
