Yes, I agree; it's VERY unfortunate when someone gets injured -- the same way when Rossi crashed in practice ten years ago and broke his leg, or for that matter all of Barry Sheene's crashes, or even more so Wayne Rainey, Joey Dunlop and Jarno Saarinen's crashes -- but sadly that's part of racing.  So I hope that anyone who knows a bit about the current moto racing would also recognize how Marquez has been quite lucky/blessed until this year (e.g., his 210 mph Austin practice crash, etc., etc).  So all of those "ifs" and "buts" should also count for numerous other racers, current and past, (except for Mike Hailwood who of course died on his way getting a pizza with his daughter, and Steve Hislop who got killed crashing his helicopter).

Let's not forget AMA champ Randy Renfrow, who fell down the stairs and died
from a head injury. He was recovering from injuries he sustained in a
Daytona crash at the time.
