Yeah, I don't have any pics of my 900SS all loaded up for touring. Most of that kind of riding on it was late '90's, early '00s, before smart phones and copious picture taking was the norm. I had those small soft bags made for high pipes, I'd bungee a backpack on the back, a Marsee tank bag, and a fanny pack for my essentials. I once took 30 days off (military leave) and rode from San Angelo, TX, up to Wisconsin, down to Kentucky, up to Maryland, over to Pennsylvania, and back down to San Angelo. Got lots of stories from that trip. Here's one...
I was in some small town in Pennsylvania and didn't know quite where I was. It was late at night and I stopped at a convenience store to get a map. When I came back out, my bike was on its left side! Some bastard knocked it over and didn't have the decency to tell me or help me pick it up. I got it up and right away say that my clutch lever was snapped off about an inch from the pivot. I had no idea how I was going to ride it. I went back inside and bought some Crazy Glue, followed the instructions, waited quite a while, but when I tried it, it came off easily in my hand. hmmm....I saw some duct tape inside.... Naw, that wouldn't work. I was standing next to the bike scratching my head wondering what to do when this guy came up to me and asked me what was wrong. When I told/showed him, he said "I got something for you." He reached into the tool box in his truck's bed and showed me a small vise grip. He clamped it onto the remaining stub and...it worked!! I was sooooo grateful I offered him some money but he wouldn't take it. He just said "pass it on..." I rode all the way back to Texas with a vise grip as my clutch lever. Now I always have a small vise grip in my travel pack.

I've done exactly the same Mario - except when my buddy's clutch lever
snapped, it took the end of the cable with it - so we clamped the vice
grips on to the end of the cable and he made ME ride it for over 1200 miles
like that. I just used it for first and clutchless shifted the rest.
In Ecuador, the replacement levers they gave us in our spares kit were NOT
for the bikes we were riding. So the pivot hole didn't line up at all. It
was close enough that 3 zip ties could be looped in there and we swapped
them out everytime they snapped (but they lasted a good long time believe
it or not).

Okay, you guys got me beat. And, even though I've got pictures somewhere,
it would take me a week to find them.
The best I can do is talk about the trip around the Western USA on my 85
Cagiva Alazzurra. I didn't even know at the time that there were special
bags made for motorcycles. I just strapped and bungied a gym bag to the
passenger portion of the seat, strapped a sleeping bag and pad on top of
that, and then strapped a small backpack to the tank. It was like riding a
two humped camel. The best part was getting on and off the thing. I know I
put some permanent marks on the seat where my boot slid across it - I could
never get my foot completely over the seat. And, to make the trip even more
of an adventure, with the extra weight, I found it easier to scrap a peg.
The only time I broke a clutch lever (another curbside knock-over, but they
had the decency to put the bike back on its feet and tuck some money into
the handlebars with a note; the money was for the broken indicator lens,
they did not notice the clutch lever). To get another lever, I hitchhiked
across some of the sketchier parts of Oakland CA until a guy picked me up,
probably saving my life, and getting me to the motorcycle shop 5 minutes
before closing time.
