Was it from a Spanish or Italian TV? They’re fake news. They like to make
shit up.

Were there any verbal sparring during the Thursday press conf? (I haven’t
watched it yet)

You really think MM93 needs an excuse?

He’s a 7x Champ, 5 of which is in the premier class and won in his first

pretty much bagged the 2019 season. I don’t think Dovi will ever win,
unless MM93 misses several Sundays.

As for the race:

Skip the race between the first 5 and last 5 laps. Snoozer in between.

Same ol story; Ducati winning in Austria (Ducati track) yet again. Quite
predictable to be honest.. What made the race exciting was Marquez trying
to stop the Ducati from repeating history. I was more focused on VR

getting

a podium, but denied by El Diablo on a customer bike!

I’ve never heard Marquez moan and complain about anything even when he
doesn’t win. He’s pretty straight as an arrow.  Dovi on the other hand

has

become a moaner even when he wins.

And for Dovi’s last corner ‘move’ that everyone seems to be so

electrified

about, I guess that’s something special for Dovi. I mean Lorenzo on the
Ducati won on the same corner.. I mean it was pretty good, but really
nothing to rave about.
Compare to how Marquez wins races or even how he saves crashes is 10 fold
more jaw dropping. If y’all really want to watch some spectacular draw
dropping races, I’d suggest to rewind to 2005 Jerez, 2009 Catalunya, 2008
Laguna Seca to name a few...

There was contact by the way at the last corner: Marquez’s brake lever
guard got caught somewhere on Dovi’s leather or bike, which almost caused
Marquez to crash. See attachment.. Marquez just brushed it off and says
it’s racing and that’s how he likes it.

didn’t know if it would work. Until it did.
Great race. Great champions both.

The report on MotoGp.com is more believable than AutoSport. It sounds
more like Marquez, (straight as an arrow, no BS) and he’s been saying the
same thing for quite a while now. His goal is to win the championship, by
wins or by collecting as much points as possible. Mind games don’t work on
him. We’ve all witnessed that already between him and VR.

Also,  I’d like to know if the interview was in Spanish or in English.
Converting another language to English can sometimes be conveyed in another
manner, especially while speaking. It’s a fact.
We can all see this during press conferences. The riders try so hard to
convey something in English, but it’s never the same when they  transmit
it in their native tongue. We just put it all together in our own
understanding, like a puzzle.
So, when Marquez speaks, he translates everything in his head from
Spanish to English,  which then can be misunderstood by people.
I know this from experience. I speak 3 different languages and a dialect.
But this is just my speculation.

Last but not least, let’s not forget that journalists always like to
twist words to make their columns more interesting.  ;-)

Dear Mad Max,

Journalists don't "always" twist words.  I'd refer you to two of the best
in our sport, Oxley and Emmett.

Marc absolutely blamed his tire choice for coming in 2nd, but he does so,
always with a smile so it's not construed as an excuse or whining.  There
was no confusion here between Spanish/English.

The dude can ride, there's no doubt.  And he'll win the championship
barring anything crazy.  But let's not make him more than the human being
he is.

His words were pretty straight forward. He said that he's learned in years past that if he wins a championship, people don't remember if he won a particular race or not.  Paraphrased of course.  But people have twisted around what he said to portray that he's dismissing this race result as nothing significant, in effect, dismissing Dovi's efforts and the win. That's not what he said or meant at all.  I thought he took great pains to always credit Dovi's riding.  The only thing I could possibly think to ding him on, and this is so really insignificant IMHO, is what Vicki alluded to, when he said "I'm Marc, so I must try" which I thought sounded a bit egotistical.  But I mean, if you were 26 years old, 5 X MotoGP champion, I think you could be forgiven for that.

twist words to make their columns more interesting.  ;-)

Oxley and Emmett? Fake news. I know because I am the greatest expert on journalism, maybe ever. I read them all the time, and know they are fake news. Believe me, I know fake news when I read it. Pags,
You're the greatest (and I should know), at least as long as you agree with
me.

I hear ya! I do follow Emmett..

Anyhow, I was more bewildered regarding the catchy comment that supposedly
Marquez had made towards Dovi. That is, “No one will remember who won this
race (Austria) when I win the championship.” If MM93 indeed said it, then
so be it. I guess he’s becoming a douche.  It’s just hard to believe that
he would say such things after all the years he’s appeared to be be
‘humble. Like Pagsy said, he’s just human after all..

below snippet from mario brother seems more valid than the media..

‘His words were pretty straight forward. He said that he's learned in years
past that if he wins a championship, people don't remember if he won a
particular race or not.  Paraphrased of course.  But people have twisted
around what he said to portray that he's dismissing this race result as
nothing significant, in effect, dismissing Dovi's efforts and the win.
That's not what he said or meant at all.’

But let's not make him more than the human being
he is.
