Hello Valerie,Samuel  Allen born Apr 23, 1828 in Seskinore, Co. Tyrone, Ireland married my gg aunt Elizabeth Johnston in Ontario, Canada. His parents were Arthur Allen and Mary Clingen. Arthur was a land surveyor. Arthur's youngest child Letitia was born in Ireland in 1837 so the family emigrated after that and I think immediately after that as the oldest daughter married in Ontario abt 1837. I wonder if they might be connected to your Allen family. I have written to Seskinore Presbyterian Church some time ago but have not received a reply.Peggy Gordon

Hello Peggy Gordon!

Unfortunately I can find no relatives of ancestors - just the "direct"
family members.  And I think my folks were not as skilled/educated as yours.
So here are my Allens--
Hugh Allen - before 1800    A Weaver in Carnowen/Carnone, Donegal  by 1814
Henry Allen (son) 1814      Weaver/Labourer
1838 April  Married Barbara Stevenson ofCarnowen/Carnone, Donegal
by Rev. Dickey  of
Carnowen/Carnone Presbyterian Church
Baptism records of children:  Carnowen/Carnone Presbyterian Church
1837  William (died young)
*  1840 May    HENRY Jr*
1844  Feb    Susan
1846  Nov      Sarah
1850  14 Nov  HENRY Sr. - a widower Marries Catherine Flood of
Carnone
by Rev. Dickey (the son) of
Carnowen/Carnone Presbyterian Church

1851 HENRY Sr. (and family) depart Ireland for Philadelphia - I

think on the Superior from Derry.
HENRY Sr. and family move ultimately to Dane County Wisconsin, where Henry
Sr. and Catherine died
* 1865  HENRY JR. *married Elizabeth Holmes in Dane County
Wisconsin and in 1870 moved, homesteading in
Dixon County NE  - founding the town of ALLEN, Nebraska in 1890.  Henry Jr.
Died 1916, Elizabeth died 1904, both in Allen, NE. (They had 5 children - 3
daughters born in Wisconsin - Sarah, Mary, Martha - 2 sons born in Nebraska.
James and Edward.

  • JAMES HENRY ALLEN * (1872 -1955)  married Olive Wheeler  (1876-1940)
  • in  Allen, Nebraska
1897 - 1976  IVA ANN ALLEN  is my maternal grandmother
    - in Allen, Nebraska

We have no information about relatives in Canada.
Everything I have learned about Henry Jr. (other than what happened after
he immigrated) has been with the gracious assistance and skills of the
folks here.
But, if we all go back far enough in history- we are related.
Best regards,
Valerie
