I have the opposite problem with my Monster 620ie with a wet clutch. The clutch lever pulls and feels like normal, but it isnt disengaging the clutch. I haven’t had time to dive into the problem beyond making sure the fluid was ok.
I have an after market slave cylinder that made the pull much easier and give it more range so it’s not like an on/off switch it was before. I installed that about 10 years ago.

Thanks for all the input. The plates and basket on mine have not had
attention in several eons, so basket is definitely notched and plates
certainly could be warped and/or stuck (though I was riding as normal at the
time, and it hasn't been out in the rain in a long time either). Nut was
not backed out. My first step was to clean and rebuild the m/c, and it
moves the slave piston with little effort, so that doesn't seem to be
