I’ve highlighted a couple of key points below. On a positive note, this change will improve our chances of survival when traveling to Los Osos Valley Rd from KCBX! But, I am concerned, (if it is still legal for vehicles coming down S. Higuera to turn left into the driveway in front of the next building in our complex) that we’ll have more vehicles racing through our driveways. Be extra careful as we see how it shakes out. The Buckley Road extension, by the Avila Ranch housing development, was created to improve east-west circulation and provide an alternative to the Vachell Road/South Higuera intersection, which has had ongoing issues with congestion and collisions with drivers attempting left-turn movements. Avila Ranch is a new development that will ultimately include up to 720 single family homes and apartments on a 150-acre site north of Buckley Road, located within the Airport Area Specific Plan (AASP) boundaries. The project also includes 15,000 square feet of neighborhood-serving retail and office uses next to a neighborhood park, as well as the preservation of agricultural uses and open space.
