My wife's family name is McFadden and I am not sure but think they may have originated from Tyrone. It would be great to compare notes sometime.

In response to McFaddens, I hope this is the appropriate way to respond. I
am looking for information about my great great grandmother Mary McFadden.
She married Charles Cunningham and they were from County Tyrone. Charles
emigrated in 1847 and while they may have known each other in Ireland they
would have married here in Canada. They settled and raised their family in
Simcoe County Ontario. Mary died likely around 1890 but very thorough
record checking has produced no information. I have records and visited all
the graves of her children as well as my gr gr gr grandparents but she has
proven elusive. No record of her death or burial in even provincial records
for either Mary or her husband ( gr hr grandfather) .

Any help would be so appreciated!

She married Charles Cunningham and they were from County Tyrone. Charles emigrated in 1847 and while they may have known each other in Ireland they would have married here in Canada. They settled and raised their family in Simcoe County Ontario. Mary died likely around 1890 but very thorough record checking has produced no information. I have records and visited all the graves of her children as well as my gr gr gr grandparents but she has proven elusive. No record of her death or burial in even provincial records for either Mary or her husband ( gr hr grandfather) . Any help would be so appreciated! Hello Elizabeth and Jim,

Many thanks for your prompt replies to my plea for info about the Caldwell, Moore, and McFadden families of Tyrone.

Here’s what I know about the McFaddens: Daniel McFadden (b. Tyrone abt. 1810, d. 1897 Glenelg, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. Married Margaret Moore (older sister of my gr-gr-grandmother) who was b. Tyrone abt. 1802, d. 1896 Glenelg, Grey County.

They had three sons and a daughter: John, William, Thomas, and Mary Ann (I have B,M,D dates, if desired). Daniel emigrated from Ireland with his wife and first-born son abt. 1840. They lived in Toronto until 1849, when they went by wagon to Glenelg, establishing a farm there and adding three more children to their family. They maintained close contact with my gr-gr grandparents, Robert H. Caldwell - he had been a shoe-maker in Ireland - (b. Tyrone abt 1811, d. Bentinck Twp., Grey Co., Ontario) and Mary Moore (b. Tyrone abt 1815, d. 1907 Bentinck Twp) who lived on another farm not far away.

I don’t know of any Cunningham connections and wish I could have been more helpful to you both.

They had three sons and a daughter: John, William, Thomas, and Mary Ann (I have B,M,D dates, if desired). Daniel emigrated from Ireland with his wife and first-born son abt. 1840. They lived in Toronto until 1849, when they went by wagon to Glenelg, establishing a farm there and adding three more children to their family. They maintained close contact with my gr-gr grandparents, Robert H. Caldwell - he had been a shoe-maker in Ireland - (b. Tyrone abt 1811, d. Bentinck Twp., Grey Co., Ontario) and Mary Moore (b. Tyrone abt 1815, d. 1907 Bentinck Twp) who lived on another farm not far away.
I don’t know of any Cunningham connections and wish I could have been more helpful to you both.
