If you own a lot of vehicles (or a few expensive ones), having them
registered in Montana makes sense. First, there's no sales tax required to
be paid when you register the vehicle. Also, if the vehicle is more than 11
years old, you can pay a one-time registration fee and get a permanent
registration with no renewals or annual inspections/fees required. The cost
of setting up a Montana LLC is low compared to paying sales tax and
registration fees for a fleet of vehicles (or even one very expensive one).

I had considered it when I bought my V4R. Dealer owner who sold it has his vehicles registered in Montana and suggested it.

At the time it felt like a hassle. I was too drunk with joy just from the purchase alone…lol

But now I am in year 3 of paying property tax on it and I think about $1800 so far just in property and sales tax after 2 years of ownership…
