I just retired and a friend of mine that recently retired was talking about taking day trips or overnight trips on our bikes.
He has a 2001 Ducati ST4 that he put Cortech soft bags on. He missed a few opportunities to purchase the Ducati bags for it. He is thinking about buying one of the new SuperSports.
I wouldn’t want to take real long trips on my 2004 Monster 620, but I’ve taken a few 600+ mile rides. It's a lot more comfortable after I put a 1” bar riser on it.
My Sport Touring bike is a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200S that I put Corbin Beetle Bags on. This bags look very cool and fit right into the bike, but the lids are very small and they don’t hold very much. I was also thinking about a new Ducati SuperSport, but I really like my Bandit and couldn’t justify the expense. The Bandit is a lot faster and more comfortable to ride. I've done a lot of work on it: Holeshot Stage 2 jet kit and pipe, which took off 18lbs of weight and gave it 127hp, Progressive Springs and a Gold Valve kit, Olins rear shock, Braided Steel brake and clutch lines, EBC Pads, Michelin Pilot Power tires, and a Zero Gravity windshield. It’s really old school, with carburetors and no electronic aids, but handles very good. The only thing I don’t like is the weight. As soon as the weather warms up I’m planning on a trip to Sedona Arizona. A friend of mine moved there and invited me. I’ve driven there in a cage and really wished I was on a bike, especially HWY 89A thru Jerome. The second pick of the Bandit was taken on a trip we did to Zion Canyon.
I think that if I took long trips on a Harley or a Goldwing, I would get bored pretty quick.

" I think that if I took long trips on a Harley or a Goldwing, I would get bored pretty quick." I do quite a bit of riding on my ducs, especially the Diavel these days, but I also ride Victory's. I've done fly n ride renting HD. In 2020 I did a trip from Las Vegas through Arizona(including the wonderful 89a), a corner of Colorado, Utah and Nevada trust me I was not bored, 8 glorious days of riding. In 2021 a friend trailered our bikes to Denver, mine was my Victory Cross Country Tour, we rode Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado another 8 days not bored. On both trips we were only on an interstate a total of ~150 miles. This year I'm planning to do the PCH on another fly n ride.
I'm a motorcyclist I enjoy my Ducs as much as my Victory's and I'm looking hard at the HD Pan American to add to my garage. Go do a weekend trip on a HD from Eagle Rider you might discover you like it.
