Hello Listers,
The latest bulletin from the Ulster Historical Foundation, Belfast contains links to two U. S. organisations formed for the welfare of Irish immigrants; these were ecumenical bodies offering assistance to both Protestants and Catholics.
Society of The Friendly Sons of St Patrick for the Relief of Emigrants from Ireland (founded at Philadelphia, PA on 17 March 1771)

In Charleston, SC the Hibernian Society was founded 1799/1801 to provide assistance to Irish immigrants – its members were initially drawn mostly from the Protestant Irish community, but came to offer assistance to members from both communities.

I’ve continued searching further and found some really interesting biographies of Tyrone, Londonderry and Donegal-born folk who settled in Philadelphia.
