I just was not thinking. Of course, If I start a thread with "No Spoiler,"
of course, no subsequent posts can say anything revealing. So, here we go
with a no holds barred discussion of today's event: The Great Spanish
Bake-Off.
I enjoyed the race, though it was not the race I expected.
I expected to see Vale look like he had nothing left in the tank when he
finished, but it seemed to me that no one had anything left, except for
Quartararo. From the parc firme interview and video, it looked like he
could have gone another three to four laps. In addition to his speed around
the track, this factor, if true, makes him a formidable racer. I think it
got over 140 degrees Fahrenheit at some places on the track.
This takes me back to the Laguna Seca MotoGP, when it was hot enough to
peel the surface off the track. Riding home, when I hit a heat wave (Morgan
Hill, I think it was), I had to stop the bike because I thought it was
suddenly on fire. And, that was just a nice, easy ride home.
Ah, to be 41 again. So, do we still think Rossi should retire? As someone
who still hopes to go a little bit fast at 64 years of age, I love seeing
someone podium at MotoGP at 41. Maybe he does not have what it takes to
really take on the likes of MM and FQ, but then, who does. After watching
others retire at much younger ages after a season or two of floundering
mid-pack, to see Vale podium at 41, I say, as long as he can get a seat,
GOOOOO!
Such a race of attrition. Did the commentators ever say "they're dropping
like flies."? It was the perfect opportunity to do so. Looked like a greasy
track above a certain temperature - good for frying eggs, but not for
resisting centrifugal force. If climate change raises the temperatures
consistently at tracks like this, maybe we'll see more night time racing,
which I do not like. Did the change of schedule affect this?
Back to the race. Fabio was amazing, They compared this ride to Lorenzo
when he was in the zone and just ran alone at the front. Could Viñales have
caught Fabio if Rossi had not blocked him for so long? Probably not. Rossi
was also amazing in that he had enough strength and endurance to manage
this race, although I think if it had gone another lap, he would have lost
third place to Nakagami. Now, about Nakagami. Where did he come from? I
hope he can continue to ride as he did today. Dovi was lucky to finish 6th;
all of the places he gained were due to DNFs. Maybe Dovi should consider
retiring.
Also, I watched the MotoE race, and, even without the commentators
injecting excitement into the racing, it was a pretty exciting and eventful
race. Hoping for more of this, maybe with less crashing into other riders.

Best part of the race was when Rossi hopped on the impact barrier
celebrating in front of an empty crowd LOL 😂😂😂😂
a lot of them capitalized from a couple of DNFs like Peco and Morbi.
Peco is looking good to be honest. I hope he continues his form beating
miller. ‘If’ they didn’t have mechanical issues, Rossi Prob would’nt have
been on the podium.
2 broken Yami engines??? Is it from squeezing all the hp’s they can get
impacting reliability?
They really needed the hp last year and they seem to have achieved it now,
but... 2 engines down!

For me, it was the excitement of watching Rossi have pace at the beginning and through the race as well, even saying what you wish about attrition, because you know what they say about finishing……… also being 64 yrs young like KK, it continues to thrill me to see a 41 yr old have the skill and stamina to achieve results like this, even when it's not hot as snot. (I was at Laguna as well as a heat reference). It was priceless seeing him wave to the “crowd” after the race!
I’ll bet there’s a lot of Yamaha team members fretting over the engine failures. The Duc motor going south as well was a shame for Peco. We don’t always hear what the cause of failure was at this level of racing, but might it have simply been a heat related issue both this weekend and last?
Looking forward to more racing! Tough to make pics for the fantasy league!

I read on the Motogp facebook page that it was basically just scrubbing in a new set of tires. Scub it in, let it cool down, then put it back on the warmers before the race.

Game over.
MM93 more surgery.
Will miss BRNO and possibly the next.
It’s your chance Dovi!! Viñales?
Quartararo 2020 *Champion If he continues to show the rest how to ride a GP
bike. :P

Well, this sucks. I know it is all part of the game, but victories for
anyone else would be sweeter if they were also beating Marquez.
Still, it might prove to be an interesting season, short, intense. I hope
Rossi can at least podium a few more times, so we can watch him greet the
empty grandstands in celebration again.
