How accurate are the simulations on Gem5? I have a space craft project that is using an old processor (space qualified). The project engineer would like to run some classic benchmarks on it, but the processor would not be available for many months. Are the gem5 processor models clock accurate? Can I adjust the processor clock to match the prototype board and would the results of the classic benchmarks be in the ball park of the physical board?\

gem5 is an event accurate simulator. Different functions of the
architecture are considered as event's and estimated time to perform those
events are used to calculate latency.
You could adjust the processor clock speed as far as I understand. This
information is used to schedule different events for the simulation.
Will it be close to the ballpark of the physical board depends on what
stats you want to check for your simulation.
