My flag

I was able to spend some time recently to document a project I've been
working on for a number of years. A while ago I acquired a Nicky Hayden
signed Ducati Corse flag (thanks Vicki!) that started me down the path of
getting autographs where ever I went (thanks Vicki! :) )

I won't repeat the write-up here. You can see the image of the flag and the
individual signatures at the link below:

http://cerebro.cs.xu.edu/~ryanr/DucatiCorse/

I will relate one story though: One year, at the Indy MotoGP race, I stood
outside Rossi's box for hours waiting for him to come out. When I first got
there no one was around. By the time he came out there must have been 50
people there and as soon as he appeared I was pushed forward 3 feet from
the surge. I held the flag out and he signed it.

Once I made my way out of the crush I look and see that he signed it in the
black portion of the graphic!

So, I did the same thing the next year. Stood outside his box for hours and
got another autograph.

That's why there's 2 Rossi signatures.

I am amazed at how this has turned out. That's a lot of races (many of which I saw you at), and time. Really cool...

Thanks Vicki. Not only is the flag filled with signatures, but there's a
lot of memories in it too.

Some (Rossi, Crutchlow, Checa) were more challenging than others. Canepa
was an interesting experience. I had been standing outside his box for an
hour or two. He saw me and a couple of times I motioned that I wanted him
to sign. He ignored me.

Then a family with 2 young children approached. He invited them into the
box, gave them hats, sat the kids on his lap andlet the kids sit on the
bike. Only when they were leaving did he come over and sign the flag.

That was at WDW 2012.

Crutchlow was also interesting but that's a story for another time.
