I just got this from my dear friend Godfrey DiGiorgi (creator & moderator of the euro-moto mailing list back in the days):
I met Paul at his shop in the south of England a while back, probably late 1990s. I met my British buddy from London, Dave Edmondson, there.
Paul had the Imola bike featured in the photo on his showroom floor, part of his personal collection. He was quite a nice guy, regaled Dave and I with stories about his time with Ducati and that race, and the travails he went through when they shipped him the bike (it was a promised award for his win): The shippers nearly destroyed it in the process of transporting it to Paul in England … He had to rebuild and repaint most of it.
Sad to hear he's gone. A fine person, and a pleasure to meet and chat with.
Godspeed Paul!
