Thanks for your reply, Jim.
I am confused. Clonfeacle, Killyman, and Dungannon seem to belong to both Tyrone and Armagh in some records. A Tithe applotment Book for Clonfeacle parish, 1833, has Clontyclay, nestled under Clonmore.
A baptism transcription for Charlotte McQuade of 01 Jun 1820 gives -
Parish: Clonfeacle, Alternative parish names: Moy, Diocese: Armagh, County: Tyrone, Armagh.
Subsequent baptisms of the family are at ‘Clontyclae, parish of Dungannon, County Tyrone’. Others are at Derrykoher, parish of Dungannon.
Have I just got myself terribly muddled? When alternative names are given for a place, what does that mean? Killyman seems to have several alternatives. I have read quite widely trying to understand the townlands, etc, but obviously am not clear! I think these places are near the border of Tyrone/Armagh, so perhaps it doesn’t matter?
Sorry to be so ignorant

Dorothy, are you aware that Catholic parishes and Civil parishes differ slightly? I suspect you are referring to Catholic registers as it is my understanding that the early Church of Ireland records for Clonfeacle perished in the Four Courts in Dublin in 1922.
Also the Catholic Dungannon parish at one time included Killyman, and maybe Clonfeacle, so you could find any of the three mentioned as the parish of baptism. I haven't found the townland of Derrykoher, so can't comment on that one.
It might help to look up the general information on Catholic parish of Clonfeacle in FamilySearch.
The important thing is that you found an early townland for your ancestors in the 1820s, many researchers cannot get back as that.
Hope this helps.

LOCATION OF CLONTYCLAY, KILLYMAN PARISH
Dorothy,
A similar query for the search of the location of Clontyclay, Killyman parish was referred to me some time ago; perhaps it was from you?
Clontyclay is what is known as a subdenomination (a small area of a townland familiar to local inhabitants). The official Ordnance Survey Map of Northern Ireland (#19: Armagh) records it adjoining Clonmore townland and spelt as Clontyclay, but there is/ was a Catholic school there which was known as Clintyclay (remember, this is Ireland). The 1825 tithe applotment book for Killyman parish records no McQuades/ McQuaids or McWades in either location, indicating that these folk were cottiers and holding no land. The maps should be useful towards your research.
All the best,
Len Swindley, Melbourne, Australia

Thanks for those wonderful aids.
However. can anyone tell me more about Inish in Termonmaguirk?
I eventually discovered that Charman (the birthplace on a death
certificate) related to Termonmaguirk, and the relevant baptismal entry
stated Inish as the residence..
However the priest told me that Inish was in the townland of Sultan, not
Inishative which I had assumed. I notice that it doesn't appear on the new
(& wonderful) list.
Does anybody have any information/suggestions. etc.
I also find it difficult to understand how a 'labouring' family moved from
there to Irish St, Dungannon. But of course they may be separate families.
My lot descend from Charles Hagan and Ellen Meenagh.
Thanks for reading this...

Hello Linley,
There is no Inish recorded in Sultan, but there are two in the immediate neighbourhood (in the adjoining townlands of Creggan and Creggandevesky): Inishtimahon & Inishmackaleer. Hope this assists (or perhaps confuses)

Thanks for those wonderful aids.
However. can anyone tell me more about Inish in Termonmaguirk?
I eventually discovered that Charman (the birthplace on a death certificate) related to Termonmaguirk, and the relevant baptismal entry stated Inish as the residence..
However the priest told me that Inish was in the townland of Sultan, not Inishative which I had assumed. I notice that it doesn't appear on the new (& wonderful) list.
Does anybody have any information/suggestions. etc.
I also find it difficult to understand how a 'labouring' family moved from there to Irish St, Dungannon. But of course they may be separate families. My lot descend from Charles Hagan and Ellen Meenagh.
Thanks for reading this...

Dorothy,

Clontyclay is what is known as a subdenomination (a small area of a townland familiar to local inhabitants). The official Ordnance Survey Map of Northern Ireland (#19: Armagh) records it adjoining Clonmore townland and spelt as Clontyclay, but there is/ was a Catholic school there which was known as Clintyclay (remember, this is Ireland). The 1825 tithe applotment book for Killyman parish records no McQuades/ McQuaids or McWades in either location, indicating that these folk were cottiers and holding no land. The maps should be useful towards your research.
