Speaking of Barbers, the Small Bore Festival report

Last weekend Barber Museum launched the Small Bore Festival.  Concept was sort of run what you brung anything but 200cc or smaller could do the dirt trail races and mini race track and drag races. An extra  $10 got you a track ride on the big circuit.

Friday night was an all you wanted for free lunch truck event in the bottom of the museum (BBQ, hot chicken and ice cream) and Saturday night was a beer party and murder Dodge ball for a charity donation. Great prizes that night included a raffle for a new customized Monkey bike which I am delighted to report went to my friend Scott. (I won a fancy backpack)

Huge manufacturer and company support, lots of give aways, a bike show with great Barber museum made custom trophies (my Grom won one!)

Weather was iffy but I went knowing it might be nothing but rain and ended up surnburned, wet and muddy at various times. There was an area dedicated for stunting and it seems like pretty much everybody was out doing wheelies. Rich came in second in vintage dirt trail races on my Rickman framed Ducati 160 in his first try on the dirt in at least three decades.

Turnout was a mix of new mini style stuff, highly (and impressively) customized stuff, nice vintage and pit bike style cool to junkyard but still running. Young crowd mostly, but families with kids riding on the mini gp track and some older people but everyone was SO NICE! I must have met half the people there by the end of the weekend, it was that kind of deal.
I rode so much I bought a more comfortable seat for the Grom and then rode more. I didn’t want to load it so I even followed the trailer back to the house at night.

Crazy fun weekend. Can’t wait for next year. Now I’m looking for a little vintage dirt bike so I can race too...

Sounds like great fun. Would love to see something like that in the Bay
Area.

Think it’s only a matter of time because it’s the first time I have ever seen corporate support beating down the door to be involved. They announced next years event at this years event in spite of light turnout because the weather channel had it at 100% rain all three days. That turned out to not be true and more people came Sat. But the license plates told the story. They were from everywhere...
