Huge disappointment here too. My 2020 tickets were rolled over to 2021, but I'd been getting the feeling it wasn't going to happen again this year.  I called CoTA last week but no pickup. They are only accepting email communication. No answer to my email and I now see why.Hoping Austin stays on the schedule in 2022.

I’m not sure events like the Handbuilt Show could exist without the GP.  Anyhow, I might able to make it to an Indy MotoGP race,  but given I NEVER went to any other US GPs, I kind of doubt it. GarthOn Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 7:47 AM Vicki Smith Vicki@ducati.net wrote:I was thinking the same, especially with Indy in good hands now and with a proven track record of being able to pull off a “COVID effected event”. If I was in the MotoGP scheduling department I’d have reached out to Indy for 2022 already.  2021 second half is jammed so cancelling the April date is pretty final for any 2021 event on this side of the world.VickiOn Jan 22, 2021, at 8:38 AM, Garth Williams garthfw@gmail.com wrote:While I’m personally disappointed, I have to say that it’s for the best. Texans have NOT had a good track record of wearing masks and distancing themselves properly (I say this as a Texan) and the GP was sure to be a super-spreader event. I suppose COTA will kick my ticket up to 2022; I am worried a bit about its solvency, as this will be two years without a major event (assuming F1 skips it later this year as well).GarthOn Fri, Jan 22, 2021 at 7:22 AM Vicki Smith vicki@ducati.net wrote:https://the-race.com/motogp/2021-motogp-calendar-revised/Vicki

They can't really justify the cost & logistics to bring the circus to town for two races (Argentina & COTA)

With no trackside revenue it's probably cost prohibitive on both COTA's and the FIM's part.

I am sure money is an issue, it always is, but keeping the paddock safe and Covid free is (in my opinion) the bigger factor. I suspect the new guidelines for coming to the USA factor in as well.  They would need a way around the 2 week quarantine which may or may not still be in effect till then and also anyone that gets sick is stuck in the USA or Argentina with medical insurance from another country, and no family or support in the building.  It’s not the best plan for a paddock full of precious people the series is responsible for.

Big fly aways are doable if you are working closely with the government of the country you are racing in but I doubt the State of Texas or the US Federal government has much bandwidth right now to enable a foreign motorcycle series. In fact, mention motorcycle event right now and all anyone can think of is the biggest superspreader event of all time - Sturgis.
