What's more exciting to watch, a pass where the passing rider clips the
other rider's bike and throws him off course or into the gravel, or one
where the passing rider perfectly threads the disappearing needle between
the other rider and the edge of the track?
I remember a WSB race at Laguna Seca some years ago, where a rider passed
in between the two in front of him as they all went from the left hand part
of the Corkscrew to the right hand part. It was perfectly executed and
timed, otherwise, it would have been very ugly. I, on the other hand,
managed to miss the turn in on the Corkscrew completely and ran across the
dirt on just past the turn. Fortunately for me, no one was there on a
correct line, or they would have T-boned me.

Personally, I hope MM retires. I wish him a long life, unencumbered by
injury. I'd love to see him support his brother to a championship, and I'd
love to see him have babies that grow up in the paddock, race and win
championships in my lifetime.

I really didn’t see anything spectacular about the 2020 season. Seriously,

I see them as modern ‘gladiators. Crashing is part of the game. Anything
that can go wrong, will go wrong.
They’re there for themselves and to entertain spectators like me. IMO, If
they’re not entertaining me/spectators , then they’re not doing a good job.
Going round and round in circles is not entertaining anymore, hence ‘it’s
boring at times. I can just watch the qualifying if I want to see the speed
and their incredible reflexes and abilities. I want to see action!
Rossi-Lorenzo Cataluña , Rossi-Stoner CorkScrew type action. They’re just
robots now. They talk like programmed computers. Where’s the whining,
where’s the taking a jab at each other like real men.
Why would you want Marquez93 to retire? Is it because you don’t agree to
the way he rides?
Don’t you want to see him get dethroned by another rider on the track? (Not
due to injury)
Tell us what you don’t like about the rider Because it’s hard to understand
how to dislike the rider’s abilities.

Clearly you’re not paying close enough attention. The drama with Dovi this year, Jorge and Cal trading barbs. Alex getting fired before the first race. Pol losing his shit regularly. And Jack. Oh god who doesn’t love Jack?
Not a huge MM fan but I respect the man and his skill. I explained why I want him to retire. I’d rather see my heroes grow old than see them maimed or dead.
The amazing thing to me is THEY don’t think they’re there to entertain you. In fact they loathe the media/hype. Most of them anyway, but it’s part of the show.
Maybe you should just go watch stunt riding instead?

It doesn’t matter what they think. It’s a show. They’ve said it
themselves.. “good for the show, good for the fans....”
..like I said , they do it for themselves, for money and passion. but
without fans, without a good show, they will not be there.
Eventually, no one will buy if one sells crap.
They can be hypocrites all they want, but a w/o a good show, without media,
fans, coverage, they’ll be nobody and no money . And what’s the point of
them being there? Corporates will
pay them million$ to have fun? Sure!
As a good human being, I too don’t want them dead, injured, etc. But that’s
their choice and they know the consequences. I don’t know them, I’m not
related to them and life goes on. Whatever happens to them will not impact
me personally. I paid my $120 MotoGp pass for entertainment, not for
charity.

Now he has an infection at the injury site so he’s staying in the hospital.

If that’s not exciting for you, then you better stick to the Friday sessions.
First, on Vicki's news: this worries me. I remember the pre-surgery talk I
got from my orthopedic surgeon. He explained that as hard as they try to
keep it sterile, some bacteria can get into the bone, and I could get a
bone infection, maybe soon, maybe later, and there is a chance they could
not control it and I would lose the leg. This was a very sobering thought,
I hope MM93's infection is superficial and is managed.
Second, on the purpose of racing and whether it's better with MM93. I must
remind both Lan and Pags that the reason corporations support racing is to
sell more bikes or products. All those other things are nice, but if they
did not lead to more sales, the funding would go somewhere else. I think
the gladiator comparison is not very valid. The gladiator's goal was to
survive by killing all the other gladiators, not to get to the other side
of the stadium first. A better comparison to gladiators would be demolition
derby, but even then, the competitors are not trying to kill each other.
Maybe the final chase scene in Road Warrior is the closest to gladiators
that racing gets. I agree with Lan (again, damnit) about wanting to avoid
boring ring-around-the-rosey track days. But, I do not want to see MotoGP
Road Warrior. I have enough trouble now remembering who is who, numbers and
colors; imagine if it changes every race. So, for me, it is a matter of
finding that point between reasonable risk and unreasonable risk. That
point is different for different people, and it is always moving. Agreeing
with Lan (aw, jeez, this is getting ridiculous), I do not like to see the
prissy complaining that SoandSo cut me off, or got too close with his block
pass (although, somethings that can be entertaining as well). I want to see
some elbow bumping and fairing scraping, but with as few crashes as
possible. I find that races of attrition by crashing can also end up as
boring.
As I said before, I want MM93 back in top form, finding a more competitive
field. Maybe he will come back a bit sobered up by his injury - there goes
that point moving around again.
