Anybody following the MisterHelmet account on Twitter? I do, and his seemingly credible accounting about the Rossi deal with the Saudi prince has much or maybe all of it being some kind of scam on Rossi. He’s been trying to get attention about it all summer. He claims that the deal is with a guy that doesn’t exist and the sponsor (Aramco) doesn’t have any kind of contract with Rossi, Or Tanal. This is supposed to be a billion dollar deal with theme park and race team and more. All run with no web page, employees and only a gmail account. It’s a pretty big WTF. The whole thing has finally made its way into the light and there is supposed to be some sort of big breaking news coming soon.
Here’s the gist of it:
https://www.misterhelmet.com/wheeler-dealers-princes-oilmen-and-suspicious-companies-is-someone-exploiting-vr46-and-valentino-without-their-knowledge/
Certainly this will blow back on Ducati if it’s true in any way. The racing team will be millions short in funding. All I have read from Rossi is he is used to trusting people. Anyway it’s super super super crazy and whatever is going on will be revealed soon.

Mister Helmet has done a lot of research, I am hoping VR46 can still field
a motogp team when the dust settles.

Vicki,
That is indeed bizarre. That said, MisterHelmet seems to have done his
research here and there are more than enough reasons to be doubtful. It's
one thing to talk big and quite another to shell out tens of millions of
Euros to start a team.
The biggest question to me is why? If this is all someone's fantasy, why go
THIS far? What exactly is to be gained by signing deals with zero
funding? And who signs such a deal with a new company without proof such
as funds held in a real bank? The reputational damage that could be
suffered by Rossi is immense.

Just one successful phone call to Rossi's camp, which directed the
questions to another person who didn't return the calls in time to publish?
They need to put someone.on Rossi's camp on the record with positive,
substantive statements, which could prove embarrassing later if the thing
falls tru- unless ultimately they aim to protect the brand? Huh

I'm still looking for the angle that makes money for this guy. Like
Garth said, WHY? He released another statement promising a contract by
the end of the month, because, shocker, it's been delayed...

Certainly one of the most bizarre things that’s come across the racing news world in a very long time. It’s hard to believe (according to the article) that things got as far as they did with Rossi et al. You don’t get to where Vale is in life/business being a complete knucklehead and falling prey to made up schemes like this seems to be. We needn’t worry though……… as the press release says, all the final details will be released by Aug 31st. Anxiously waiting……………

The biggest question to me is why? If this is all someone's fantasy, why go THIS far? What exactly is to be gained by signing deals with zero funding? And who signs such a deal with a new company without proof such as funds held in a real bank? The reputational damage that could be suffered by Rossi is immense.

Funny though, now that there is very little chance of a big check arriving, I can’t help but notice that VR is going fast again. In this am session he was 7th and only .265 off the fastest bike on track. Admittedly there’s quite a few guys out this weekend but he was faster than a bunch of usually fast guys.
Also, great news for Dovi, looks like he will be back, at Misano on a Yamaha.

Let's hope he is able to get it done with a reasonable budget. Vale has
been my favorite rider since the 250cc days, but I wouldn't be able to
stand to see HIS team fail due to a lack of competitive funding. With SKY
in play, we can at least have high hopes.
